Thanks so much Bob! I just finished reading your blog, that's amazing you were able to spend that time with Jim. I never met him, I knew his name from his bodybuilding accomplishments, but only learned of his story through his features in the vegan community, and instantly became a fan. I have some friends who knew him through training in California and have only heard great things about him. Thanks for checking out my article and commenting, I sincerely appreciate it! All the best to you!
I'm so glad you saw my reply and blog! Yes, he was such a remarkably kind man. He made me a better man too! Thanks for your thoughtful reply. All the very best to you and yours!
These articles about the bygone era of bodybuilders is very inspiring. It’s also a great reminder that hard work and consistency pay off, even in the absence of fancy equipment and “new” training methods.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate it! The more I learn about the old time lifters the more I realize they had it all figured out. There really is nothing new out there. Just old ideas, repackaged with some modern equipment. Nothing beats the barbell and dumbbell for sure!
Heartfelt thanks for posting this! I met and trained with Jim in 1983. What a most remarkably kind and beautiful soul!
I wrote this yesterday in his honor: https://onetoughpirate.com/bobs-blog-%26-life-story/f/jim-morris---my-mentor-and-hero-by-bob-bowers
